Book Review

Click here to see examples of book reviews written by other children.

We have read two book reviews in class last week. I hope you remembered how to write a book review. You can refer to the reviews written in the Text Book (James and the Giant Peach).

Choose a book that you have read recently so that it would be easier for you to write about it. This will help you recall the content of the story rather than choosing a book you read a long time ago.

It is also a good idea to have the book in hand so that you can refer to it while you write.

Enjoy writing! I cannot wait to read your reviews.

Copying notes in Handbook & Completing homework

Dear 4F,

I am truly sad for being angry today in class. I was so disappointed when some of you had forgotten to bring Unit 6 to school today. I really hope we can complete this Unit before moving on to Unit 7. Worst of all, many of you did not copy down the reminders I wrote on the board in you handbook!

I hope this does not happen again in the future. Please remember to copy down the reminders in your handbook and complete all your homework.

Let's enjoy our learning journey together. I hope you are preparing well for tomorrow's spelling.

*Why you so like that one!

*Why you so like that one!
Is this phrase Standard English? It does not sound right. It is not Standard English. It is Singlish (Singapore English) which may not be understood by people from other countries.

The proper way to say it is: "Why are you behaving like that?"

Can you try and translate these into proper English so that any English speaker can understand?

1) Why you never take come?
2) He go take already.
3) Why he anyhow do one?
4) I cannot ownself do.
5) I take my ownself.
6) I also can.
7) Who say one?
8) Don't worry lah. Sure can one.
9) You don't anyhow say leh.
10)Don't play play ah. He very fierce you know.

Have Fun!

It's potatoes!

Tiesha, Maximedex and Bernice got the right answer to my riddle. Good job!

Some of you wrote really good riddles.

COngratulations Kah Kah and Xiong Wei for getting perfect answers! Well Done!

Answers for synthesis 'and'.

1) Joe and Jack like reading novels.

The word 'like' should not have 's' because there are two people.

2) Peter and Lily are having lunch now.

'Is' must change to 'are' as there are now two people in the same sentence.

3)Tim and Tommy want to be doctors when they grow up.

'Wants' must be changed to 'want' because we are referring to two people in the sentence. 'Doctor' must be changed to 'doctors', with the 's' because we are talking about two people who wants to be doctors, not just one doctor.

Poems with punch lines.

I have written one:

Jack and Jill
went up the hill
to fetch a pail of water.
Jack fell down
rolled on the ground
and Jill screamed, "I thought we ought to go higher?"

Note: Textbook Pg. 7

Would you like to try? It's easy and fun. Just think of a poem that you know and change the last line. Make it funny or silly or zany or wacky or comical or goofy or...

Riddles can be funny too! (Click Me!)

Jokes are funny. So are riddles! However, jokes and riddles are not the same.
1. Do you know why they are not the same?

2. What's the answer to this riddle?
I have eyes but cannot see. What am I?

3. Do you have a riddle to share?
(You may choose to leave out the answer or include the answer)
